Finalisons ! ♫

Le nouveau MacOs, surnommé Tahoe (nouvelle numérotation : 26) est sorti.
Comme les versions beta semblaient causer quelques dysfonctionnements (mineurs) dans Finale 27 (lire les témoignages ICI), la prudence est conseillée.
La ruée vers un nouveau MacOs a souvent des effets négatifs sur diverses applications qui, au moment de sa sortie, ne sont pas - ou pas encore - compatibles et sont donc susceptibles de connaître des dysfonctionnements.
Même si la curiosité donne envie de découvrir le nouveau MacOs, mieux vaut y résister et ATTENDRE que les retours d'utilisateurs qui ont risqué la mise à jour nous en apprennent plus.
En plus, la version "1.0" de tout nouveau MacOs est toujours entachée de quelques bugs, qui sont généralement identifiés et nettoyés dans les mises à jour mineures qui suivent. Une raison de plus pour ne pas se précipiter...
Si vous avez installé Tahoe et utilisez Finale 27.4.1, votre témoignage sera le bienvenu ici.

I played around with it today. When I played back on Audio Units (using the Aria Player) the “stop” button didn’t work at all. Also, under the “Edit” menu of File Preferences, the “cancel,” “apply,” and “ok” buttons don’t work.
So, all in all, looks like it’s a little glitchy, but still mostly usable, particularly under the less-than-ideal circumstances… now that Finale’s officially abandonware.

I’ve been using Tahoe for some time now as part of the Appleseed program. When I did have to go back to Finale from Dorico to adjust some older scores (pre-Sept 2024), the Stop button on the playback window did not work, and that’s been confirmed by others. Fortunately, the Space bar still works to stop playback.

But I’ve also had a lot of glitches, beyond the usual unexpected Finale glitches, and I’m not entirely sure this is due to Tahoe. Even after totally uninstalling Finale and every associated file (confirmed with EasyFind by searching everywhere for “Finale”-it was all gone) and then reinstalling 27.4, the Expressions tool doesn’t work if I double-click on a note; I have to click and drag to get the dialog box with various expressions from which to choose. Even worse, the Smart Shapes tool is only capable of inserting one smart shape of the app’s choice (usually it’s a slur). No way to draw a hairpin or anything else.

Fortunately, I made sure I had good audio files of every score and they are all essentially finalized, and other than an occasional minor tweak (like combining two eighth rests into a quarter rest, which Finale didn’t do automatically), I shouldn’t need to do anything further with Finale. But one older score for strings, for which I wanted to improve the audio file, was an abortive effort after several days. Balances were all off, dynamics were not functioning consistently, tweaks to note velocities with the antiquated MIDI Tool sometimes worked, sometimes not. The output was never going to be acceptable, despite a lot of creative workarounds I tried. So I am really glad I moved on away from Finale since last September, since it’s not like anything is going to be fixed, of course (and to be fair, it wasn’t getting fixed for the past 2-5 years anyway).

I" have 27 running trouble free over Sequoia 15.7 and not as well as I'd like over the release build of Tahoe 26.0—works but glitchy as David has already posted.
An update to Tahoe may fix things such as Playback. I have most of the Smart Shapes working now but am not holding my breath. My System drive is staying on Sequoia until something else forces my hand...
...I can do everything I need but it takes more time and some tasks require workarounds.
The final release of Tahoe is somewhat better (than the betas). Most of the Smart Shapes do work now such as slurs, hairpins etc. I couldn't get 8va to do its thing but was otherwise successful. Playback controls are unchanged since the first beta, however.
I certainly can't recommend Tahoe but I am able to install, authorise, install Garritan and Aria 2.026 and NotePerformer 5.1. It works — except for the few places where it doesn't.
Some Mac Studios have a problem upgrading to the release build of Tahoe—Apple knows about this but basic Support does not."

Before I was getting a crash every 20 mins or so using simple entry (with keyboard).

David Toub rapporte des problèmes avec les Lignes avancées / Smart Shapes et les expressions, mais ce problème lui semble propre, car non évoqué par d'autres utilisateurs à première vue. En plus, il a apparemment le cas dans Sequoia, donc l'info n'est pas significative.
Le problème du bouton Stop est à nouveau mentionné (heureusement, la barre espace remplit la même fonction).

" Not sure if it’s Tahoe specifically but as mentioned, even after completely uninstalling and reinstalling finale 27, smart shapes do not work for me and there are expression oddities too. I just had to add a missing hairpin to a score and had to create a hairpin as a graphical expression to enter it (the existing hairpins in the expression tool are not perfectly straight lines). That took some time since the antiquated shape designer is mired in the early 90’s. Again, no idea why this happens to me and is one reason why I’m glad I moved onto something else as a notation program, but in general, people aren’t reporting major issues except for the stop button being nonfunctional."

Pour l'instant, aucune contre indication significative dans les commentaires ci-dessus, ce qui est plutôt un bon signe, non ?

D'après Jan Angermueller (Monsieur Perfect Layout), 5 boutons ne fonctionnent pas dans Finale 27 sous Tahoe :
• Stop et parfois Play dans les contrôles de lecture
• Il y en a aussi 3 en bas de la fenêtre Edit dans Settings (cad Préférences) : Apply, Cancel et OK. On peut utiliser la touche Return ou Enter.
Mais il a concocté une solution, une application encore en test et qui sera disponible sur le site d'Elbsound Studio.

Tous les boutons se remettent à fonctionner.
MAJ : il faudra vérifier si l'application fonctionne avec Finale 27 en version française. Voir le post de Jan ci-dessous.

MichelP a déjà annoncé la correction pour Tahoe dans le message précédent.

Jusqu'à présent, elle a été testée avec les versions anglaise et espagnole de Finale 27, mais je suis certain qu'elle fonctionnera également avec d'autres éditions internationales de Finale.
Je pense que la version finale sera prête ce week-end.
